Ladies-in Waiting 2

I took this painting and fooled around with it in Photoshop after one of Nick Simmons' suggestions, and the following images show the original LIW 2 painting with two different levels of the cutout feature applied. It is a lot of fun to do the Photoshop thing with actual photos but to do it with an original painting is really FAB!! Now if I can just paint them this way........

  1. Sorry I didn't see this before! That really does some cool things to your paintings, especially for ideas re simplifying detail and consolidating shapes. Maybe the top one goes too far? Or not far enough?! I guess you have some time for decisions before the show...but it will be here before you know it!

  2. Nick - I couldn't get the painting to do a whole lot more in cutout - I'm still not too good at major alteration. I'm sure much more could be done that would make it more interesting to paint! .....or attempt to paint....:)

  3. I read an article about Nick's process in a previous edition of the "Watercolor Artist" magazine.
These are very interesting experimentations, I should take the time to try this too !

  4. Catherine..Nick also shows off this technique in his workshops. He is a great teacher and I rushed to purchase Photoshop Elements for Mac right after he showed us. I am not very good yet but it is a lot of fun experimenting!!
